The How originally a very large barn, is situated in a small village in the heart of the Borrowdale Valley, which is regarded by many as the most beautiful part of the Lake district. The How is an ideal place to stay for a few days while you explore the surrounding area. Keswick, Windermere, Grasmere, Buttermere and Ennerdale are just a short drive away. We are ideally placed for a wide range of outdoor activities: walking, climbing, and mountain biking. There is canoeing on nearby Derwentwater and for many the scenic splendour offers many opportunities for compelling photography. |
